Founded in 1989, CARE Housing Services Corporation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation dedicated to developing affordable housing for low- and very low-income residents. It serves as the parent entity for a network of nonprofit corporations working together toward this goal.

CARE qualifies as a 501(c)(3) public charity and meets the requirements for federal tax exemption. It is recognized as a priority purchaser under the Low-Income Housing Preservation and Resident Home Ownership Act of 1990 and qualifies for tax credit financing under federal law.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide housing solutions for individuals at all stages of life. We focus on:

Acquiring, rehabilitating, and selling affordable single-family homes.
Developing and managing multifamily housing projects.
Offering valuable resident services to improve community well-being.

We aim to preserve “at-risk” properties, prevent market-rate conversion, and create sustainable housing that serves as a catalyst for social mobility.

Real Estate

Smart RE Corp is a for-profit real estate brokerage and is the real estate division of CARE Housing Services. It pioneers new real estate systems, focusing on single-family homes, commercial and other related types of real estate for the betterment of CARE.
